Information on Latvia

Latvia is the central country of the Baltic States, located in North- Eastern Europe, on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The length of Latvia's Baltic coastline is 494 km. The total area of the country is 64,589 square kilometres. Latvia has common border with Estonia, Russia, Belarus and Lithuania.

The largest towns and cities are Riga, Daugavpils, Liepâja and Ventspils. The total population of the country is about 2.4 million inhabitants.

Latvia is the country of many rivers, lakes, forests, and castles. Its history has been different and complicated and tightly related to several other countries. These historical relations influenced Latvian cultural and architectural heritage and made them so unique.
