General Information - RegistrationConference Venue The Conference will take place at the Central Palace of Riga Technical University. Riga Polytechnical Institute received its present name - Riga Technical University on 19 March 1990. Before that it was called Riga Polytechnicum (1862 - 1896), Riga Politechnical Institute (1896 - 1919 and 1958 - 1990), Technical Facilities within the Higher School of Latvia (1919 - 1958). Since 1990 reorganization work of the study process has been going on to ensure both academic and professional education in the branches characteristic of Latvian national economy and complying with the demands of the European Union. At present RTU comprise 8 faculties, namely, those of Architecture, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Power Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Engineering Economy, Materials Science and Applied Chemistry, Transport and Mechanical Engineering. Language The official Conference language is English, but for the Plenary Session on May 30 simultaneously translation will be organised. You will have to pay in cash. You can also get to the city by the public bus No.22, which leaves from the airport to the city centre. You will get out straight at the terminal on the 1st level. To get on the bus at the airport look for bus stop located opposite the terminal behind the car park. Frequency 15 - 40 minutes, journey time about 30 minutes. Entry formalities For a number of countries, including Canada, Switzerland, the US, the Nordic countries and EU countries, the entry to Latvia is visa-free.
